Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
DuraFlex Chimney Cleaning in Fontana, CA | Lantern Chimney Sweep
We provide independent DuraFlex chimney cleaning and repair across Fontana, including ZIP codes 92334, 92335, 92336, and 92337. The thing that makes our DuraFlex work here different from anywhere else is knowing exactly what decades of Fontana heat, Santa Ana wind, and uncapped flues do to these stainless liners. If you need a DuraFlex liner inspected, swept, or repaired, call (855) 341-8132 for a free estimate.
Our crews work on DuraFlex chimney systems every week in Fontana’s older ranch tracts, so we know how these stainless liners and their components age under Inland Empire heat and Santa Ana wind cycles. As an independent sweep, we diagnose and repair DuraFlex systems honestly. We do not manufacture, authorize, or warrant DuraFlex products. What we do is inspect them, clean them properly, and tell you straight when a liner can be saved and when it’s time to reline. We also handle full DuraFlex sales & service for homeowners weighing repair against replacement.
Why Fontana Residents Choose Us for DuraFlex Service
Most sweep companies in Fontana will clean a flue and leave. We don’t. Sweep. Assess. Repair. That’s the sequence on every job, because a clean liner with a failing top connector is still a hazard. We document what we find with a camera inspection and photo report, so you’re never taking anyone’s word for something you can’t see.
Len Castorena, our owner, grew up in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Pomona and has spent the better part of three decades working on the chimneys and fireplaces of homes throughout the Pomona Valley and the Inland Empire. He built Lantern Chimney Sweep around a simple idea: tell people exactly what’s inside their flue, what it means, and what actually needs to be done about it. That’s why we use professional-grade materials, not hardware-store substitutes. When a DuraFlex liner needs a new top plate or connector, we fit it with genuine components, not whatever’s hanging on a peg at the big-box store.

Common DuraFlex Chimney Cleaning Problems We Solve in Fontana
- Top connector separation on 1990s – 2000s retrofits. Flexible stainless liners installed in Fontana prefab retrofits often show joint separation at the top connector. The original cap and spark arrestor rust away, water gets in, and the connection loosens. We see this constantly in the newer 92336 and 92337 developments.
- Corrosion pitting on lower liner sections. In Fontana’s original masonry chimneys, decades of uncapped flue exposure to Santa Ana – driven dust, leaf litter, and moisture causes pitting on the lower DuraFlex sections. This is the slow killer. By the time you see surface rust, the liner may already be compromised.
- Loose liner-to-appliance or top-plate connections. Fireplaces in Fontana sit idle most of the year, then get hammered during the first cold snap. Repeated heating and cooling cycles loosen connections, letting creosote and soot bypass the liner entirely. A sweep catches this. Ignoring it doesn’t.
- Insulation wrap breakdown or omitted insulation on double-wall assemblies. DuraFlex insulated liners in clay-tile flues sometimes show wrap degradation, which reduces clearance performance and creates hot-spot risk. We check insulation integrity on every Level 2 inspection.
- Debris-packed liners in south Fontana’s uncapped chimneys. In the older tracts, we routinely pull birds’ nests, leaf litter, and decades of wind-blown debris out of DuraFlex liners before we can even begin a sweep. The liner is usually buried under all of it.
DuraFlex Service in Fontana: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment
Here’s something that’s true in Fontana and rarely true a few miles away in Rancho Cucamonga or in areas served by our Glen Avon DuraFlex service. In south Fontana’s original Kaiser Steel – era tracts across ZIPs 92335 and 92336, the factory spark arrestors on 1950s – 70s masonry chimneys have largely rusted off. These were lightweight metal screens installed at the crown decades ago. They’re gone. That leaves an open flue mouth collecting everything the Santa Ana winds push through the neighborhood: leaf litter, dust, twigs, roof granules, and the occasional starling family. A DuraFlex liner in one of these chimneys is usually found buried under debris, and a full cap-and-sweep has to happen before the liner can even be evaluated. That’s not true in the newer foothill subdivisions. It’s absolutely true in the tract south of Foothill Boulevard.
On a 1962 stucco ranch off Tamarind Avenue in south Fontana, we pulled a DuraFlex flexible stainless liner out from under two seasons of leaf litter and a starling nest because the original arrestor had rusted away entirely. The Level 2 camera run showed pitting at the lower sections and a separated top connector, so we re-seated the joint, swept the full run, and installed a new multi-flue cap sized to the original masonry crown. The homeowner now has a sealed, sweepable flue instead of an open chute catching Santa Ana dust.
DuraFlex Models & Products We Service in Fontana
We service the full DuraFlex lineup that’s commonly installed across Fontana homes: DuraFlex SW single-wall flexible stainless relining kits, DuraFlex Pro flexible stainless liner systems, DuraFlex insulated flexible liner double-wall assemblies, and DuraFlex rigid stainless relining sections used with flexible tops. Our parts approach is simple. Where fit and warranty continuity matter, we use genuine DuraFlex components for connectors, top plates, and caps. For non-critical terminations, quality aftermarket stainless parts do the job. If a liner is pitted through or has separated joints, we tell you plainly when relining is the right call versus when a clean, re-seat, and cap will get another decade out of the system. No guesswork, no upsell.

AfterDuraFlex Service Pricing in Fontana
The cost of DuraFlex chimney cleaning in Fontana depends on liner condition, debris load, and whether we’re just sweeping or also repairing connectors, caps, or insulation wrap. A standard sweep with camera inspection runs lower than a job that includes re-seating a top connector and installing a new cap. What you pay comes down to what the camera shows. A free estimate includes the inspection, the photo report, and a plain-language recommendation. Nothing is recommended without camera evidence you can see for yourself, and we’ll say plainly when work can safely wait. Call (855) 341-8132 for an exact quote. Estimates are free.

FAQs – DuraFlex Chimney Cleaning in Fontana
In most cases, yes. The liner itself may be fine. What fails first is usually the top connector, the cap, or the lower sections where water and debris pooled. We’ll run a camera through the full length, show you exactly what we see, and tell you if a sweep, re-seat, and new cap gets the system sealed again. Call (855) 341-8132 to schedule the inspection.
It does. Fontana’s older south tracts have more uncapped chimneys than the newer foothill subdivisions, which means more wind-driven moisture and debris sitting against the liner for years at a time. The corrosion pattern tends to be lower-liner pitting and top-connector rust, and we see it far more often here than in Rancho Cucamonga’s newer builds or in areas where we provide Rialto DuraFlex service. The fix depends on how deep the pitting goes, and the camera tells us that.
A Level 2 inspection covers the accessible interior and exterior of the chimney, including a camera run through the full liner length, visual checks of the top plate, cap, flashing, and crown, and a look at the liner-to-appliance connection. We perform this whenever a liner has been buried under debris, when you’re changing fuel type, or after any event that may have damaged the system. The photo report is yours to keep.
Sometimes, and it depends on the liner’s condition and the gas appliance you’re installing. If the liner is intact and properly sized, a conversion is often straightforward. If it’s pitted or separated, you’ll need liner work first. We’ll give you a straight answer before any work is scheduled. Call (855) 341-8132 and we’ll walk you through what the camera shows.
Even if you rarely burn, debris accumulates. In Fontana’s uncapped older chimneys, birds’ nests and leaf litter can pack a liner in a single season. We recommend an annual inspection with a sweep as needed. If the flue has no cap, get one installed. It’s the single biggest thing you can do to keep whatever liner you have from degrading prematurely. Call (855) 341-8132 for a free estimate on a cap-and-sweep.
